Bach Flower Essences – Natural Help for Emotional Balance

Bach essences , also known as Bach drops or simply Bach remedies , are a natural approach to supporting emotional well-being. They use extracts from wild flowers of plants and trees.

Who was Dr. Edward Bach?

This method was developed by English physician and homeopath Dr. Edward Bach in 1928. He felt that traditional medicine often focused only on the symptoms of problems, while he himself sought deeper causes. He believed that psychological balance and inner peace were key to a person's overall well-being.

His famous quote is:

" Health depends on whether our body is in harmony with our soul . "

He decided to create a natural support system that would help restore lost balance and inner peace using extracts from wild flowers - thus Bach essences were born.

How can we explain this philosophical and, for its time, relatively timeless view today?

Dr. Bach believed that when caring for a person, it was not enough to focus only on physical symptoms, but that working with emotions was key. He perceived that most problems were rooted in mental and emotional imbalances.

He believed in the healing power of nature. According to him, each flower carries a specific energy that resonates with a certain emotion or state. He therefore selected essences based on their ability to support the balance of certain internal states.

Dr. Bach was a very sensitive person. Thanks to his empathy, he was able to connect with individuals and nature. He perceived the connections between humans and plants in a way that was ahead of its time in his time. He was like a modern herbalist - while grandmothers brewed herbal teas, he created essences from plants.

To make this system accessible to all, he created a methodology that is still taught today at the Dr. Bach Centre in London . Graduates of Level 1 and 2 certification can then mix essences for others.

Bach selected 38 different flowers , each representing a specific emotional state or mental characteristic .

In addition, he selected one essence, called Rescue Remedy , which combines several flower essences and is intended for emergency situations or crisis states.

The selection of flowers was based on the idea that each flower has a specific energetic resonance or vibration that can influence our emotional and mental states .

Bach believed that this energy could help to redress imbalances and restore harmony in an individual's emotional state .

The selection of flowers is based on the assumption that each of them has a unique energetic quality that can support a specific emotional state. Bach essences do not replace medication , but work gently with the human psyche.

After preparation, the essences are mixed with a preservative ( alcohol or glycerol ) and used in the form of drops - directly on the tongue or diluted in a glass of water.

You can choose from pre-prepared blends focused on specific topics (such as sleep , concentration ), or have a tailor-made essence created for you. After filling out a questionnaire, Michaela EG Mašková will create an individual combination of essences for you - just like Dr. Bach did.

How can the body become unbalanced?

Nobody taught us how to work with emotions. Since childhood, we have often heard:

"Big girls don't whine, big boys don't cry."

"Calm down immediately, stop acting up here, don't eat anymore!"

“Sit here and be quiet.”

Children crave acceptance – and so they suppress their natural emotions. But they don’t disappear. Suppressed emotions can remain in the body as unprocessed energy .

The word emotion comes from the English emotionenergy in motion . Emotions are meant to flow, to be experienced. When they remain “stuck” in the body, they can later manifest as internal tension, irritability, explosiveness or fatigue .

How do they try to get their emotions out?

They say: When we say "NO" to an emotion, DISEASE arises.

Emotions that we don't experience can be recalled through outbursts, arguments, and mood swings. Accumulated tension can contribute to various problems, such as:

  • insomnia,
  • unrest,
  • irritability,
  • gnashing of teeth,
  • itch,
  • upset stomach
  • or difficulty breathing .

How can an emotion get stuck in the body?

It really doesn't take much. We go through a major traumatic experience, during which we experience extremely strong emotions - fear, uncertainty, guilt, sadness, etc. Maybe it occurs to you now that you never experienced anything as terrible as a child, such as the death of a parent, daily beatings with a belt, or hunger and poverty.

But be careful, please! Today, we do not judge the strength of trauma by its severity, but by the strength of the emotional experience we felt in our body at that moment.

It doesn't have to be a major trauma. Just a powerful moment is enough.

– A father tells his teenage daughter that she has a big ass in her skirt. She translates it as: “I’m not good enough.”

– The teacher humiliates the child in front of the class. Shame and a sense of failure arise.

From these small but powerful experiences we carry emotional imprints that shape us. An adult can then repeatedly experience similar emotions – in a relationship with a partner, at work, in the family.

The consequences of repressed emotions can be:

  • relationship problems,
  • low self-esteem,
  • workaholism, burnout,
  • emotional overeating or eating disorders,
  • feelings of inferiority, guilt,
  • addictions,
  • boundary problems, hypersensitivity,
  • restlessness, anxiety, outbursts,
  • self-destructive behavior.

How to release emotions from the body today?

Using Bach essences . They help to induce emotional balance, peace, perspective and inner harmony .

Bach essences are used all over the world:

  • In England, they are part of the practice of midwives and teachers.
  • In France , they are registered as a natural remedy and are allowed to be mixed by pharmacists.
  • In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, they may be partially covered by insurance.
  • They are also used by the British royal family and some emergency services.

How to choose essences?

Dr. Bach worked with 7 emotional groups :
fear, insecurity, disinterest, loneliness, hypersensitivity, despondency and excessive care . These groups serve as a guide when choosing essences.

Essences do not focus on suppressing symptoms , but on working with emotional settings. When combined correctly, they can promote a sense of inner peace and relaxation .

What can Bach essences do?

  • They help you become aware of and process up to 7 emotional topics at once
  • Brings insight and emotional release
  • They promote peace, gratitude and joy

Each blend is individual – created to match the current emotional state of a particular person.
